Welcome to SM Therapies

Guiding you towards healing and embracing change.

Hello, I'm Sueli (she/her)

I’m an experienced psychotherapist offering compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for adults, young people, and children. My practice is a space where you can feel safe exploring what’s troubling you, connecting with your inner self, and beginning the process of healing.

With professional experience in the NHS, charity sector, and Local Authorities, I support individuals through a wide range of challenges—from complex trauma, anxiety and depression, to relationship struggles and sexual well-being. I hold an Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Postgraduate Certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions, a CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Children, and a Master’s degree in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy. Over the years, I have undertaken various trainings that have enhanced my qualifications and refined my skills, including Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems, Therapeutic Life Story Work, among others.

I specialise in working with complex and developmental trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, adoption, as well as with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship and intimacy difficulties, and issues related to self-esteem. My approach is integrative and relational, grounded in trauma theory and attachment-based practice. I draw on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), which focuses on healing relational trauma through connection and safety. I also integrate Polyvagal Theory to help clients understand their nervous system and develop skills for emotional regulation. Additionally, I utilise the BUSS model (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems) to support foundational development in those affected by early trauma.

With children and young people, I use developmentally appropriate, play-based and relational approaches, informed by child development theory and attachment-focused interventions.
Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, I aim to meet you with warmth, understanding, and attunement.

Sessions are available both in person and online. If you're curious about working together, you're welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial conversation.

I offer individual therapy for children, young people, and adults in a warm, confidential space. Using an integrative, trauma-informed approach rooted in attachment theory, I support clients with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression, and low self-worth. Drawing on DDP, Polyvagal Theory, and the BUSS model, therapy is tailored to each person’s pace, fostering emotional regulation, resilience, connection, and lasting change in a safe, supportive environment

Relationship therapy offers a supportive, confidential space for couples and individuals to improve communication, deepen intimacy, and navigate conflict. Informed by theorists like Esther Perel, Sue Johnson, and John Gottman, it explores how attachment and relational dynamics shape connection. Whether in crisis or seeking to reconnect, therapy brings awareness to unhelpful patterns and supports more secure, compassionate relating. Sessions are tailored to your needs, fostering growth, healing, and renewed connection.

Psychosexual therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore sexual concerns, deepen intimacy, and reconnect with your body and desires. Rooted in the biopsychosocial model, my trauma-informed, queer-affirmative approach draws on attachment and compassion-focused therapies. Whether addressing low desire, shame, painful sex, or the impact of trauma, sessions are tailored to your needs—supporting healing, emotional safety, and a more connected, empowered relationship with yourself and your sexuality.

Client Testimonials

"The amount of support, care and compassion I get from Sueli is beyond what I had expected when I joined BetterHelp in February. Both Sueli and the platform as a whole have saved me from a very dark place and I'm forever grateful."

"I have had therapy for 25 years on and off, and had almost given up when I decided to give it one more try. I was matched with Sueli and from that day my life changed for the better. She is so incredibly insightful, she encourages me to find ways to help myself, to discover things about myself that I hadn't realised before, to know myself better and love myself. She asks all the right questions, in the right ways, and sessions feel like a safe space for me to express my feelings knowing there will be no judgement. I have grown in confidence, in self-esteem, I have become calmer and more able to face adversity, my life has improved immeasurably at home, at work, with my relationships with family and friends and my children. I am so thankful."

"Sueli is amazing. She has had such an impact in just a few sessions! I'm looking forward to see what the coming months will bring as I know she understands my goals and the barriers I face."
